During engineering of process plants, it is often necessary to change multiple objects of the same type in a workflow.
Examples are:
- Modifying alarm limits, alarm priorities or message texts for process objects
- Individually modifying multiple display objects in one work process
- Editing language-dependent texts in multilingual projects
In this context, SIMATIC PCS neo supports the possibility to select any number of objects or attributes from the object database using queries. The queried data can then be edited in table form or, alternatively, exported to Microsoft Excel for editing.
This has the following advantages:
- Efficient execution of spreadsheet-based bulk data operations in engineering
- Convenient searching, sorting and filtering of data using the integrated query editor
- Access to all objects known in the system and their attributes
- Coordinated multi-user access, also when working with tables
- Fast switchover between normal and bulk data engineering without leaving the Workbench
- Alternatively, data can also be changed using Microsoft® Excel
