Insulation displacement termination: Save on wiring time
Highlights
- Up to 60% time savings
- No preparation of conductors required
- Space-saving and reliable to operate thanks to tactile feedback
- No special tools necessary
Where speed is in demand
The 8WH3 insulation displacement terminal with IDC technology is the terminal of choice, especially in series production or where a larger number of standardized products are manufactured.
In plant and control engineering, identical conductors are often used for wiring. In addition, mainly flexible conductors are used here. The insulation displacement terminal is optimally designed for such applications because wire end sleeves are not necessary with this technology.
Time savings during installation
IDC is the abbreviation for insulation displacement connection. This means that: the insulation of the conductor is penetrated at both ends by the cutting unit. It is not necessary to strip the insulation of the conductor. This establishes a secure contact between the conductor and the connecting cable of the terminal – just cut the cable to length, insert it, and close the terminal. A quick turn of the screwdriver is all that's needed.
In statistical terms, this means: You save up to 60% of wiring time – all the way from the sensor to the controller.
