SIMATIC PCS 7 is a high-performance process control system. NATUS developed the NATUS APL block library on the basis of the SIMATIC PCS 7 APL, Advanced Process Library.
The NATUS APL is based on the building block principle. Modular, because the functionality of the basic functions can be extended with additional functions depending on the application. As an example, the direct starter basic function can be extended so that a communication-capable control device, e.g. SIMOCODE, or frequency converter can be used in a very simple way.
Compact, because each basic function focuses on its core functionality, which has a direct impact on the block size of the basic function.
The difference between the NATUS APL and the SIMATIC PCS 7 block icons can be seen in the block icons that are provided in a typical file. The status of, for example, faults, simulation, protection and test position is shown in color by means of frames. The pictogram, such as a motor symbol, also indicates the aggregate state. This has the significant advantage that the operator can read all statuses directly on the process picture without opening an operating window. Another advantage of the NATUS APL is that operator tracking is integrated. The operator receives information on whether a fault can be acknowledged via a colored frame display.
In addition, the NATUS APL meets the requirements in the power plant sector. The VGB describes the requirements in the directive R170 B0 to B6. This means that all the typical features known from other control systems are available,
for example, the protection functions that are available for each basic function with or without message. On the user interface, the power plant design is clearly visible in the block icons.
Of course, operator tracking, simulation and commissioning mode have been taken into account.
The NATUS APL can be used in all process plants. It has already been successfully used in various industries and is widely accepted by our customers.
