RUGGEDCOM Ethernet Layer 2 switches are designed to withstand the demands of harsh environments (in a temperature range from –40 °C up to 85 °C without fans), and to operate reliably in mission critical real-time control applications requiring the high Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) immunity high levels of reliability and availability (with industrial standards such as IEC 61850-3, IEEE 1613, and NEMA TS 2). In response to the high levels of reliability and availability, RUGGEDCOM technology has developed an innovation known as Zero Packet Loss™ for upgrade communications networking performance.
The Compact RUGGEDCOM Layer 2 Ethernet switches are available in a variety of either managed or unmanaged devices; and are designed for tight spaces. Their rugged design allows them to ensure reliable and error-free communication in applications requiring superior reliability and availability of network devices. Likewise, the Rack-Mountable RUGGEDCOM Layer 2 Ethernet switches deliver utility-grade performance, reliability, and field-proven high MTBFs, lowering operating expenses over the entire lifetime of the devices.¬ They operate on the Rugged Operating System ROS™ and include versions with 10 Gigabit uplinks, high power PoE ports, and HSR/PRP support.
