Overview
ENG_672148.xml
With the SIMATIC RF1000 readers, Siemens provides an RFID-based solution which enables simple and versatile implementation of electronic authorization management. Existing employee ID provides the basis for identification. which increases user friendliness and minimizes costs.
SIMATIC RF1000 series readers allow realization of finely-graded access concepts, documentation of processes and storage of user-specific instructions to be stored – according to the customer-made application and all with a single card.

Benefits
ENG_672149.xml
G_IK10_XX_50160
- Individual control of access rights using existing employee ID card
- Diagnostics via 3-color LED status display and acoustic signaling element
- Secure and documented access to machines prevents operating errors
- Simple integration into existing hardware (HMI devices and panels)
- Low overall depth thanks to slim design
- Cable feedthrough on different sides allows installation in confined spaces
- Reading and writing of data from/to ID/card/transponder
- Creation of custom-made parameter assignment for reader via the config card
- Handling and storage of custom-made key material for data access in the reader
- Worldwide service and support
Application
ENG_672150.xml
The growing demand for security and traceability increasingly calls for solutions enabling access to machines and systems which can be regulated and documented. Electronic access management consolidates process security while enhancing productivity and efficiency by preventing damage which could be caused by unauthorized access.
The main application areas for SIMATIC RF1000 are:
- Controlled machine access
- Logging of access data
- Traceability of access and changes
- Individual control of access rights
- Definition of any number of user groups with different access rights
- Integration in the company-wide industrial security concept
- Connection to an Active Directory via PM-LOGON, SIMATIC Logon or UMC
Design
ENG_672151.xml
Due to their compact design with low overall depth, SIMATIC RF1000R readers are suitable for applications where mounting space is limited, such as where HMI panels are involved.
The high degree of protection (IP65 on the front) of the SIMATIC RF1000R readers enables them to be used in harsh industrial environments.
Each SIMATIC RF1000R Reader features a 3-color LED status display on the front which signals the function and status of the reader, as well as the presence of a transponder.
Easy integration into existing hardware (HMI devices and panels) via a USB 2.0 interface.
Connection to ET 200SP, communications modules, PCs and third-party HMIs is via an RS232 serial interface.
Transponders compliant with ISO 15693, ISO 14443 A/B, LEGIC Prime and LEGIC Advant, Hitag 1/2/S and EM41xx can be used as mobile data storage mediums.
