Telecontrol systems for comprehensive applications

Telecontrol systems for controlling and monitoring widely distributed plants usually consist of a supervisory control system (telecontrol center) and one or more outstations connected over large distances for the automation of distributed plant sections.

SIPLUS RIC is a versatile telecontrol system that uses the internationally standardized telecontrol protocols:

• Ethernet (TCP/IP) IEC 60870-5-104
• Connection of protection devices IEC 60870‑5‑103

It provides secure communication with reduced data volume for reliable operation in the Wide Area Network (WAN) thanks to event-driven, time-stamped transmission and monitored output of commands.

• These protocols are internationally standardized and manufacturer-independent, and they can be directly parameterized with SIMATIC Manager and TIA Portal without the need for any additional installations.
• SIMATIC Controllers can also communicate with third-party products by means of the IEC protocol.
• Existing plants can be easily modernized and expanded with IEC protocols.
• The IEC protocols support seamless archiving of process data and, even after a connection failure, no data is lost (back-up in a local buffer, including time tagging)
• High availability thanks to redundant data communication
• SIPLUS RIC offers integrated, scalable configuration from SIMATIC ET 200SP and ET 200S to SIMATIC S7-1500 including R/H, Software Controller, WinAC and S7‑400H.
• With SIPLUS extreme hardware, telecontrol devices for an extended ambient temperature range (-40 ... +70 °C) and exceptional exposure to environmental substances (conformal coating) can be implemented using the telecontrol protocols.

SIPLUS RIC offers maximum functionality and modularity to meet the requirements made upon the monitoring and control of spatially distributed systems, even under extreme environmental conditions. With SIPLUS RIC, you can set up star and line topologies. For redundant data transmission, a station can be connected to two transmission paths, e.g. a dedicated line in combination with DSL or GPRS.
