In addition, calculated data, such as the KPIs of Performance Insight, is stored in IIH Essentials.
Higher-level apps, such as Performance Insight, access the structure and data storage of IIH Essentials and receive their machine data from it.

IIH Essentials connects the plant to the app. All data sent via the plant bus is transmitted to IIH Essentials and can be stored there in a structured manner. The various connectors (e.g. S7 Connector in the Industrial Edge or Open Pipe in the Unified Comfort Panel) can serve as the plant bus.

IIH Essentials is a centrally usable element for structuring and storing data that can be used by other Edge apps via an API interface so that they do not have to implement their own data management. Functions such as aggregations, data storage and structuring are available.

Each node in the structure is referred to as an asset and helps to divide the machine into different areas. Based on the structure, it is easier to provide specific data for all higher-level apps, such as Performance Insight or other apps, even those developed in-house.
